Around three o’clock or so this afternoon, a meeting fell through at work which meant I managed to slip out for a moment to join Alicia and Will at the 2007 Utah International Auto Expo which runs, by the way, from today through Monday at the South Towne Expo Center (9575 S. State).
The 2007 versions of your more common vehicles (Ford, Nissan, Honda, etc.) were all showcased, along with a classic car section.
Our attention, however, was garnered by the higher-end, sporty varieties like Ferrari, Porsche and Lotus. There’s nothing quite like a vehicle whose speedometer tops out at 220MPH. Fast fact: the first stick shift I drove was a Porsche 911 owned by the father of my Scoutmaster. Yes, I screwed up and ground the gears. Yes, it was dumb for him to let me drive it. Yes, I’m an Eagle Scout.
So, with the massive revenues I earn off this website, it’s likely I’ll own quite a few luxury cars in my lifetime. In fact, after my trip to Africa, I’ve become fond of armored SUVs. The next million or so I get might well go to Ogden’s International Armoring Corp which sells bullet-proof Suburbans, Escalades and Hummers. Don’t worry, I’ll hook you’ll up with rides.

To all the readers — Ryan already owns a sports car– in fact, he owns two of them. You might not know, but he also knows how to rebuild engines revved for high-end performance in speed. I’ve driven one of these cars, and man, was it fast. It makes my own sports car look like a mound of mud after a hurricane.
So, you can imagine, he would look at the Lotus and say “My cars can beat that”.. It’s true.
Fun fact: The Lotus is a car from the UK, which has a standard MSRP of: £27,995. That comes out to a measly $54,254.60 USD. I’m sure, if we wanted, we could all own one or two of them.

We also went to the show…and I must say, TOO MANY PEOPLE!
I particularly liked 4-5 cars. The 4 Ferrari’s and the Lotus’ were just gorgeous. I must admit though, the 1969 429 Boss ‘Stang was the treat of the evening. Although, the Enzo pretty much takes the cake. It was hard to see because of the # of people who were BLOCKING my view! RAWR!
I liked the ‘57 Bel Air. That was just beautiful. The Oldsmobile 442 was very nice too. The GTO was cherry, and the Cadillac was…well…Cadillac.
I have a nostalgia that let’s me cherish the classic’s over the modern. They don’t make many cars today like yesteryear. Although, the most comfortable car we sat in, and my wife and I both agree on this one, was the Lincoln Town car. Just fit you like a glove.

I also attended Friday night.
While the standard exotics were definitely awesome, my vote for pure WOW! factor goes to the showroom concepts and other rarities, like the Ford/Shelby Cobra and the Ford Reflex. The Jeep Hurricane wasn’t bad, either.
As far as comfort goes, I still think the Infiniti FX-45 takes the cake.
