In this era of economic uncertainty, what better than to highlight excess? Depending on your perspective, it’s either inspirational or a gross perversion.
Utah is no stranger to conspicuous consumption. We’re no Silicon Valley, but we have had a few financial successes with software and MLM companies which have produced rich people (ethical morass notwithstanding…)
Wealthy people occasionally build big houses. I’ve listed a few of the largest that I’m aware of. Did I miss any? I’m defining big here, loosely, to mean greater than 10,000 square feet. The following entrants are in no particular order. I wish I had pictures of each, but google map views will have to suffice. So, either enjoy, or be offended!

This one is up on Wasatch Blvd in Sandy, and it is unbelievable how huge it is in real life. Crazy Big.

I think the two of you are either dreaming or foretelling of events to come. hmm, which is it? I hear you’re working on a sweet project…are we counting chickens before they hatch?
Cool houses, though. I think they should offer tours once in awhile so the public can check them out.

Does anyone know who owns that Villa Bellissima in Sandy? I’m so curious to find out who owns such a home. It’s huge!!!

Villa Bellisima sits majestically a top the pristine valley bench of Lone Peak Mountain. The 40,000 square feet of living space, stucco, cast concrete products, sidewalks, double spiral staircases, elevator, theater, pools, customized millwork and cabinetry, imported marbles, and fine finishes, stand as a Salt Lake valley landmark.
There is one that is being built in Bountiful… its suppossed to be the biggest in Utah when completed. There is another in Bountiful that looks like a hotel. It’s by Mueller Park Canyon.
There is a home being built in Hobble Creek Canyon in Utah County by the Univ. of Phoenix executive. The estate is around 4500-5000 acres and the home will be 80,000 sq ft. I’ve heard it will be the largest in Utah-by far, and among the largest in the US. Can’t be seen on Google yet, but can be seen if you drive up the canyon.
