As an eminent Utahcto CTO, I rub shoulders* with a lot of important people, like Sandra at the Arbys** drive-through window, Merrill- the head of IT at Seven Peaks Water Park and Paul “Spike” Adams- a renowned motivational speaker.

As the hours of the day tick by, I sometimes lean back in my OfficeMax chair and gaze through the venetian blinds to the trees swaying in the wind. Bystanders might take this inaction to be loafing, but I’m actually hard at work mulling over technological strategies and initiatives. I enable real-time mindshare, harness extensible methodologies, productize seamless content all the while driving impactful convergence. ***

But seriously folks, it ain’t all red-carpet, black tie affairs. I program, provision, engineer, analyze, install, retrofit, patch, upgrade, secure, design, architect, resolve, manage, monitor, evaluate, plan and execute. And that’s in addition to managing the Byrd General Store, overseeing department push  up competitions, coordinating foam sword battles and making Maverik drink runs. And that’s just in the AM…

I’m proposing that December 4th be National CTO Appreciation Day. Take your CTO out to lunch, say to La Caille for some escargot. Maybe treat him to something at ThinkGeek.com, or hook him up with a Tesla Roadster. Do what you can. Don’t be afraid to go overboard. He deserves it. Show your appreciation. Be creative.
